XR5 Technical Update

Firmware Update Effective November 1999, all XR5FC and XR5SL Fire Command panels are being shipped from the factory with version 104 (10/15/99) firmware. This version is an update from the 103 (5/25/99) firmware previously shipped and contains updated operation.
Updated Operation Numeric Pager Operation Numeric pager messages can now be sent from the XR5 panel. Zone alarms and troubles are communicated to numeric pagers in the same format as other DMP panels. Daily Recall Test The automatic daily recall test has been modified to alternate between the two phone lines. The test alternates between each line every 24 hours Only one test signal will be sent per day, only attempted on the phone line designated for that day, even if the supervision circuits have detected that the phone line is bad. This will allow testing of both phone lines and conform to NFPA 4-184.108.40.206.6.2 (b) exception 2. 32 Character Phone Number Fields The XR5 panel now provides 32 characters for telephone numbers in receiver one and receiver two programming. The following description is from the XR5FC/XR5SL programming guide.
FIRST TELEPHONE NUMBER - This is the first number the panel dials when sending reports to this receiver. A phone number can consist of two lines of 16 characters to equal 32 characters. You can program a three second pause in the dial-ing se-quence by en-tering the let-ter P. You can program a dial tone detect by entering the letter D. These characters are counted as part of the 32 allowable characters. SECOND TELEPHONE NUMBER - The panel dials the second number when two successive tries using the first number have failed. If the panel cannot reach the receiver after two attempts using the second number, it returns to the first number and makes two additional attempts. A total of ten dialing attempts are made using the first and second phone num-bers. If a second phone number is not entered, the first phone number is used for all dialing attempts. Each number can be up to 32 characters in length in-cluding any P or D char-acters entered for pause and dial tone detect.
Upgrading/Ordering New Firmware New firmware PROMs may be obtained by calling Customer Service at 1-800-641-4282 and ordering the "XR5/UPDATE. The cost is $2.00 for each firmware update PROM.
