DMP Is First To Earn NYC Approval For Network Communication

August 03, 2005

Digital Monitoring Products, DMP, is the first alarm manufacturer to earn approval for network communication as a secondary communications channel for fire system central station monitoring in New York City. DMPs XR500 Series and XR2500F fire panels were awarded the approvals by passing the citys rigorous Materials, Equipment and Acceptance (MEA) performance standards for detection, reporting and network communications. The panels network technology has also been approved by UL for primary communications.

Established in 1969, the MEA Division of the NYC Department of Buildings was created to ensure that permanent building materials and appliances meet the minimum standards required in the Building Code, thus increasing the safety in all New York City buildings. As fire suppression and fire alarm equipment, the XR2500F was also subject to review by the Fire Department.

This approval affirms our leadership position in alarm network communications, said DMP Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Gary Kallman. Weve always been proud of our achievements in network monitoring technologies, and now they have been recognized by some of the toughest judges in the industry.

New Yorks MEA approval covers DMP panels, receivers, keypads, power supplies, addressable smoke detectors and other devices, with the complete listing available at under Compliance. Panels will begin shipping with the MEA approval mark by the middle of August.
