UL 864 9th Edition Extension

December 29, 2005

As most of you know, UL 864 governs Control Units and Accessories for Fire Alarm Systems in accordance with NFPA Standards. We would like to inform you that UL has recently advised manufacturers concerned, that the expiration date for the 8th edition of UL 864 has been extended to January 1, 2007. The effective date for the 9th edition standard is still March 31, 2006.

What this means to DMP Customers:

The XR200 Panel, 460 Interface Adaptor, 485 Access Control Module, iCOM/iCOM-E Network Interfaces will continue to hold their UL 864 listings until January 1, 2007. (one more year). These models WILL NOT be submitted for testing to the 9th Edition of UL 864. CSFM will also be dropped at that time as the CSFM listing is substantiated by the UL 864 test report.

All systems manufactured and labeled prior to January 1, 2007 will remain compliant after the effective date. Existing installations are not affected. DMP will no longer be able to attach the Signal System Control Unit (commercial fire) marking on the XR200 or iCOM/iCOM-E as of January 1, 2007.

We would also like to assure our customers that DMP has already submitted the XR500, XR2500F, SCS-1R and all appropriate keypads, modules and accessories to UL for testing to the 9th edition standard and we await their approval.

Therefore, DMP will continue to meet your UL 864 application needs.
