5-Inch Touchscreen Keypad Version History
Faulted Zone Update
When a system is set to the Home/Away arming type and has Closing Code turned on, the keypad lists the faulted zones before displaying OKAY BYPASS STOP.
Keypad Expander Update
If the keypad is using the first zone on the built-in keypad zone expander, then the zone does not fault when you reset the panel, exit Programming, exit Installer Options, or power cycle the keypad.
Dual Authority Arming Update
When using Dual Authority and arming an area with faulted zones, the keypad displays any faulted zones and allows the users to bypass the faulted zone, force arm, or cancel arming.
Graphical Area Arming Screens
Area arming screens have been updated to display armed areas with the shield graphic next to the area. Graphical area arming is not available for 9800 Series Wireless Touchscreen Keypads or XTLtouch systems.
Updated Red Alarm Screens
Alarm screens have been updated to display a brighter red screen when the system is in alarm.
Clean Option
The Clean Keypad Screen option locks the screen for 40 seconds so you can clean it without accidentally pressing buttons.
Programming Support Improvements (7800)
Wired graphic keypads can now be used to program 734 Series Access Control Modules. This enables installers to use a 7800 Series graphic keypad to program 734 options locally.
Initial Power Up Improvements (9800 Series)
When a 9800 Series Wireless Touchscreen Keypad is powered on for the first time, the boot screen is displayed, then the home screen is displayed for approximately 15 seconds before transitioning automatically to the pairing screen. You can exit the pairing screen by tapping the Shield icon.
General Display Improvements
Occasionally, graphic touchscreen keypads may have displayed a white screen during processing which required the user to cycle power to the keypad. Version 205 (2/18/21) fixes this issue.
Automatically Prompt User for New Wi-Fi Password
When the user changes their Wi-Fi password, they automatically receive an Incorrect Wi-Fi Password message on their keypad. The user presses ENTER PASSWORD and is redirected to a programming prompt. When the user enters their new Wi-Fi password and presses CMD, the password is updated in NETWORK OPTIONS programming and communication with the central station is reestablished.
Touchless Arming
Present a credential to the built-in reader to automatically arm the system without touching the keypad. After the arming delay expires, All/Perimeter systems arm All. Home/Sleep/Away and Home/Away systems arm Away.
Prox Arming/Disarming Transition Speedup
In previous firmware versions, arming a system then disarming it with the built-in prox reader during the arming sequence resulted in a slow transition from the EXIT TIMER screen to ALL SYSTEM OFF. Version 205 speeds up this transition significantly.
User Interface Improvements
Version 205 includes changes to the keypad user interface to improve the readability of text.
Updated Graphics
Version 204 includes updated keypad graphics and screen layouts. This includes improvements to the look and feel of the Z-Wave user interface that make controlling lights, appliances, locks, garage doors, and thermostats more intuitive than ever.
Improved Multiple Card Format Capability (7800 and 9800 only)
Choose how cards are programmed into a system: DMP, CUSTOM, or ANY.
- DMP allows you to use DMP format.
- CUSTOM disables DMP format and allows you to program slots 1-8 in any compatible card format.
- ANY allows all Wiegand card reads to activate the door strike relay and sends no user data to the panel.
If CUSTOM is selected, the format that is programmed into slot 1 is the default format. In the event that a card with an unrecognized format is programmed when adding a credential, that card will be read in the format that is programmed in slot 1. To restrict card reads to specific formats, only program slots 2-8.
To use this feature, XR150/XR550 Series must be updated to firmware Version 192 or higher.
Z-Wave Appliance Module Support
Version 105 allows users to learn in and control Z-wave devices such as water valves and blind controllers as an appliance in the Z-Wave setup menu.
In addition to graphic keypad firmware Version 203, Z-Wave Appliance Module Support requires XT or XR Series Version 192. All systems that do not have built-in Z-Wave require 738Zplus Version 105.
Enhanced Z-Wave Thermostat Support
Version 203 allows Graphic Touchscreen Keypads to receive, display, and send thermostat temperature data from 1 °F to 99 °F.
128-bit AES Encryption
Version 202 (1/18/19) now supports wireless encryption, allowing the keypad to communicate with the following:
- Wireless devices Version 200 and higher
- Wireless receivers/repeaters Version 300 and higher
- Panels with built-in wireless receivers Version 183 and higher
This feature allows wireless graphic keypads to operate on encrypted systems while remaining fully backward compatible with unencrypted systems. To enable wireless encryption, the control panel must be updated to Version 183.
Multiple Card Format Support
Version 111 (1/9/19) shows new programming prompts to support Multiple Card Format. At the keypad, you can now program up to seven different card formats in addition to DMP format. The keypad’s on-board proximity reader will accept multiple card formats as inputs for arming, disarming, and access control.
7872/7801/9800 keypads will accept multiple card formats for arming and disarming. 7873 keypads will accept multiple card formats for arming and disarming as well as for access control with the internal relay, using either the on-board card reader or external card reader.
Additionally, the 7800 Series keypad will now receive the same 734 options when programmed in the panel, ensuring that the same card formats are present in all 734s and graphic keypads on the system. To support receiving card formats from the panel, you must update your XR150/XR550 panel to version 183 firmware.
Instant Arming
When users Instant Arm a Home/Away or All/Perimeter system, all Graphic Touchscreen Keypads on the system will now display Armed Instant underneath the shield.
Carousel Shortcut for Bypass
There is now a shortcut to the Bypass Zones menu available in the carousel. This allows users to quickly bypass and/or reset zones. The shortcut can be added or removed from the Installer Menu. To enable this feature:
- Select Options from the carousel.
- Select the Wrench Icon.
- Type in 3577 (INST) to enter the Installer Options Menu.
- Select KPD OPT (Keypad Options).
- Navigate using CMD to the SHORTCUT ITEMS.
- Select the Checkmark to turn Carousel Bypass on or off.
- Navigate using CMD to STOP to exit the Installer Options Menu.
Standard Keyboard
Users and technicians now have the option to use a standard keyboard on Graphic Touchscreen Keypads when entering letters and symbols. This feature provides an easier way to enter zone names, network names, and passwords. Users can easily alternate between the different keyboard options by pressing ABC for uppercase letters, abc for lowercase letters, !@# for special characters and symbols, and 123 for numbers and the number pad.
Programmable Carousel Menu
Users now have more control over what displays in the carousel menu. When Options is pressed in the carousel menu, the following items can be selected to display in the carousel menu or deselected to be removed from the carousel menu: Chime, Reset, Easy Exit, and Check In.
Wi-Fi Status Icon
Users who have Wi-Fi-enabled panels will now see a Wi-Fi status icon displayed at the top of the keypad. This allows users to identify the current network status of their system. When the Wi-Fi icon is present, the system is connected to the network. When the Wi-Fi icon is hidden, the system is not connected to the network.
Chime Icon
With Version 110, when Chime is enabled, the Chime icon will now display on all Graphic Touchscreen Keypads connected to that system.
Updated Operations
7800 Series Graphic Touchscreen Keypad hardware was updated June 30 to a new internal memory. Keypads with this new hardware began shipping in early July. Recently, an issue was discovered that may prevent the keypad display from properly starting during power-up. Version 108 (7/28/16) software corrects the display startup issue. 7800 Series keypads in the affected range were manufactured between June 30, 2016, and July 20, 2016, and shipped beginning in early July. The effected serial number range is 4873094 to 4889179. If you received 7800 keypads during the month of July, and they are in the effected serial number range, they can be updated to Version 108 (7/28/16) software using the micro SD card slot.
Enter Code to Cancel
Version 109 has improved the Enter Code to Cancel button when an exit delay is being displayed on the keypad. Now, when the Enter Code button is pressed, it takes users directly to the Enter Code screen.
Easy Exit
The Easy Exit feature has been improved with Version 109. When using Instant Arm on a Home/Away system, the countdown screen displays as soon as the Easy Exit button is pressed.
Multiple Improvements
Version 109 includes multiple stability and performance improvements for all 7800 and 9800 Series keypads. It also includes wireless speed enhancements for 9800 Series keypads paired with XT50 or XTLplus Series panels with Version 125 (August, 2016) or higher.
Wireless Keypad Auto Pairing
Wireless keypad auto pairing allows you to skip the Wireless Keypad Association process and automatically connect a keypad to a panel. Auto pairing is only available for 9800 Series Wireless Graphic Touchscreen Keypads (Version 109 or higher) that do not have a previously assigned house code. A maximum of four wireless keypads are allowed on each panel.
Arming Type Auto Detect
When an XTLplus panel’s arming type (A/P, H/S/A, Area) is changed, 9800 Series keypads (Version 109 or higher) will automatically sync their arming type to match the panel. This prevents you from having to manually change the keypad arming type to match the XTLplus panel’s settings.
SD Card Firmware Update
Keypads with Version 107 software provide the ability to use the Micro SD card slot to load Version 108 or higher firmware updates without the need to return the keypad to DMP.
Carousel Navigation Arrows
Navigation arrows now display on the top and bottom of the carousel on the main screen to allow page up and page down of the carousel menu. The ability to touch and drag the carousel menu up and down is still an available option.
Instant Arm
In previous versions of the 7800/9800 Graphic Keypads, instant arming was only available during the exit delay. Now when selecting your arming option, INSTANT is displayed below your available arming options. Tap on INSTANT to disable the Exit/Entry delay and your system immediately arms.
Response Time Enhancements
Users will notice improved response time from the keypad when updated to Version 108 (3/21/16) and connected to either an XT Series panel with Version 124 (1/21/16) or an XR Series panel with Version 112 (3/22/16).
SD Card Firmware Update
Updating to Version 107 provides the ability to use the Micro SD card slot to load future firmware updates without the need to return the keypad to DMP. A Restart Keypad Screen has been added to accommodate loading firmware from a Micro SD card.
Z-Wave Garage Doors
The 7800 Series Graphic Keypad now supports Z-Wave Garage Doors, such as the model Z-GD00Z-4. The Locks Screen has been renamed to Doors and now displays Z-Wave Garage Doors, Z-Wave Locks, and Door Devices. The following control panel software is required to support the Z-Wave garage door feature:
- XR150/XR350/XR550 Series Version 108 or higher
- XT30/XT50/XTL Series Version 121 or higher
Z-Wave Screen Navigation Arrows
Arrows now display on the right and left side of each Z-Wave device screen when more than four of a device type are programmed in the system. Pressing the right arrow advances to the next group of four devices and pressing the left arrow returns to the previous group.
Micro SD Card
Occasionally, when a Micro SD Card was inserted into the 9862 Wireless Graphic Keypad, the customized Dealer Logo file would not load and the keypad would display “BAD FORMAT”.
Note: If the dealer logo file has already been loaded, the keypad does not need to be updated.
Keypad Zone Operation
On rare occasion, the on-board zones of the Model 7872 keypad could lose the capability to detect a trip from a connected device such as a door contact. When this occurred, the keypad required power to be cycled to begin detection of zone trips.
If keypad zones are not used, this issue has no affect on other keypad operation. For Model 7872 Keypads where the keypad zones are used in the installation, DMP strongly recommends they be returned to DMP to be updated to Version 106 software. As a second option, zones connected to the Model 7872 can be moved to other zone expansion devices, such as 714, or directly to the control panel.
10-Digit Proximity Credentials
When a 10-digit Proximity credential was scanned to disarm the system or for door access, the keypad sent the incorrect user code to the panel if all of the following conditions were met:
- The keypad was operating with Version 102 or higher software.
- The number of User Code Digits in Installer Options was set to 10.
- The last two digits of the User Code from the card were the same (for example: 2137367855).
When this occurred, the system would not disarm or access was denied. Invalid Code was displayed at the keypad. The keypad sent the proper user code if the last two digits were not the same or if the Number of User Code Digits was not set to 10.
Fire Panic Message
When a user was arming but then accidently pressed the arming icon twice and then had to enter their user code, on occasion the keypad could have sent a fire panic message to the panel. This issue only occurred if all of the following conditions were met:
- The Arm Panic Keys option in the keypad's Installer Options for fire had been reprogrammed to Yes from the default No.
- Closing Code (typically used in Commercial applications) was reprogrammed to Yes from the default NO.
- Home/Away or All/Perimeter (typically used in Residential applications) was programmed in System Options for the System type.
- The keypad was connected to a XR150/XR350/XR550 or XT30/XT50/XTL Series Control Panel.
- The arming icon was pressed twice.
Home Away Arming
If the Away arming icon was pressed and held until the keypad displayed the exit delay, the next time the user attempted to arm Home the system would incorrectly arm Away.
Spanish Language Support
7800 Series Graphic Keypads can now be programmed to display Spanish text in the Home Screen and screens accessed from the Carousel Menu. A new Select Language screen has been added to the Installer Options menu just after Shortcut Items. To display the panel User Menu, Status List and panel events in Spanish, program the panel’s System Options User Menu and Status List Language as Spanish.
Select Language Screen
The Select Language screen allows you to select the language for text on the Home Screen and Carousel Menu Screens. Press the item to select and a check mark displays. Press again to de-select. The keypad does not translate information from the panel displayed in the Keypad screen such as the Status list. Only one language may be selected. Default is English.
Display Timing
Display Timing 7800 Series Graphic Keypad Version 105 (6/10/14) corrects two exit delay countdown timing issues. Previously for All/Perimeter or Home/Sleep/Away systems, the Interactive Shield icon of the Home Screen could not be used to arm the system after the following steps occurred:
- The system had been armed starting the exit delay countdown.
- An exit type zone was tripped just as the exit delay countdown ended.
- The entry delay started before the keypad could return to the Home Screen after the exit delay.
- A user code was entered to disarm.
This issue did not occur on Area systems.
Note: Proper operation was restored to the Interactive Shield icon after the system was armed using the Carousel menu Keypad icon or the system was armed from another keypad.
Also for All/Perimeter or Home/Sleep/Away systems, the Zone Monitor Alert window could have not cleared from the display after the following steps occurred:
- The system was armed.
- An exit type zone was tripped starting the Entry Delay and displaying ENTER CODE: - on the keypad.
- A user code was entered to disarm.
- Before ALL SYSTEM OFF was displayed, a zone with Zone Monitor enabled was tripped causing the Zone Monitor Alert to display.
This issue did not occur on Area systems.
Note: Proper operation was restored after a keypad power cycle.
Exit Delay
When a system with more than four keypads was armed, the display of the exit countdown on the 7800 Series Graphic Keypad may have been delayed by approximately 30 seconds. The exit countdown now displays on the keypad within 5 seconds.
7800 Series Graphic Keypads now support Z-Wave Light modules with energy metering capabilities. In the Lights screen, the icon for the energy metering module displays the current power usage of the connected device in Watts and below the accumulated usage in kilowatt-hours. Pressing RESET returns the accumulated usage counter to 0. This feature is available with the following Control Panel software:
- XR150/XR350/XR550 Series Version 105 or higher software
- XT Series Panels Version 118 or higher software
Card Plus PIN Support
7800 Series Graphic Keypads now support Card Plus PIN operation for access control applications using XR150/XR350/XR550 or XR100/XR500 Panels.
Panic Option
The Panic shortcut icon in the Carousel Menu on the keypad’s main screen is now only displayed if any of the panic options (Police, Fire or Emergency) have been enabled in the Installer Options menu.
Contact Information
The Dealer contact information screen now displays the Default Keypad Message programmed in the Installer Options menu. The Default Message is displayed just above the dealer phone number.
User Check-In
The User Check-in option now only displays in the keypad Carousel Menu if the system is programmed for All/Perimeter or Home/Sleep/Away operation.
The following features are available for 7800 Series Graphic Keypads when used with the following panels:
- XR150/XR350/XR550 panels with Version 103 (10/18/13) or higher software
- XT30/XT50/XTL Series panels with version 116 (10/15/13) or higher software
Enhanced Weather Information
The weather information displayed on the main screen has been enhanced to include additional information. Previously, the keypad displayed the following:
- The current weather condition and temperature
- Tomorrow’s forecast condition and temperature
Network enabled panels update weather information every hour and the keypad now displays the following:
- The current weather condition and temperature
- Today’s forecast high and low temperatures
- Tomorrow’s forecast weather condition
- Tomorrow’s forecast high and low temperatures
Panels with a cellular connection update four times daily and now display the following:
- Today’s forecast weather condition
- Today’s forecast high and low temperatures
- Tomorrow’s forecast weather condition
- Tomorrow’s forecast high and low temperatures
The enhanced weather information will automatically begin to operate as updates to DMP web services are implemented in early November.
